smart-logo-vertical-black-smallAs part of my last term at the University of Oregon, I was accepted into the Portland Senior Experience Program, a small organization that helps soon-to-be graduates transition into the workforce. Each of the eight other students and I were matched with individual organizations to intern for in Portland. For ten weeks, I worked for Start Making A Reader Today, a nationally recognized, statewide nonprofit that empowers children for more successful futures through books and reading. For 25 years, SMART has served more than 188,000 children and donated 2.4 million books. I completed a wide variety of projects for SMART, including some of the following best works:

SMART works closely with academic administrators across Oregon, and so to improve communications with educators, I created a PR plan suggesting strategic initiatives.

The Civil War Literary Challenge was a campaign that pitted the University of Oregon Ducks and Oregon State University Beavers against each other to raise money for SMART.
